Step 1 — Site Survey and Structural Design
Every Mezzify installation begins with a detailed site survey. Our engineer assesses the building structure, the floor slab, the clear height available, the column positions and the intended use of the mezzanine. From the survey, our structural engineer prepares the design and calculations for the mezzanine — specifying column sizes, beam spans, floor loading capacity and connection details.
Step 2 — Building Regulations Submission
The structural design is submitted to building control for approval. Mezzify manages this process entirely — you do not need to engage separately with building control. Approval typically takes 2-4 weeks depending on the local authority.
Step 3 — Steel Fabrication and Delivery
Once building regulations approval is received, the structural steelwork is fabricated to the approved design. All steelwork is hot-dip galvanised or painted to the agreed specification. Delivery is coordinated to arrive on site at the start of the installation programme.
Step 4 — Installation
Our installation teams erect the mezzanine in a systematic sequence — columns, primary beams, secondary beams, floor decking, staircase, handrails and edge protection. Most installations of up to 300 square metres are completed within 3-5 days. Larger installations are programmed over multiple weeks with the programme agreed at the quotation stage.
Step 5 — Building Control Sign-Off and Handover
On completion, building control carries out a final inspection and issues a completion certificate confirming the mezzanine has been built in accordance with the approved design. Mezzify provides a structural completion certificate and operation and maintenance manual on handover. Call 0800 654 6955 to book a free survey.
